Double Glazing Company - Double Glazing Supplier - Double Glazing Installers
All around the world, for over four decades, the name of VEKA has come
to stand for the very best in PVC window profile systems for the construction,
refurbishment and home improvement industries.
VEKA products such as the Matrix 58, 70 and the fully sculptured Matrix
FS systems for double glazed window frames, the Composite Door System and
more recently the Fully Reversible and Vertical Sliding Sash windows and
Inline Sliding Patio Doors have each set new standards by which others
are measured.
VEKA PVC window systems have proved their worth in some of the world’s
largest and most prestigious construction and refurbishment projects as
well as literally millions of homes.
VEKA plc’s renown for product excellence is matched by an unsurpassed
reputation for technical, professional and marketing support that has made
it the first choice of fabricators, specifiers and architects everywhere.
VEKA Group is also at the forefront of environmental issues, from the
world’s first purpose-built PVC-U recycling plant to the UK’s first ever
BFRC ‘A’ Rated PVC window for superior heat retention as well as the first
fully reinforced double glazed window to gain the ‘A’ Rating.
Double Glazing Companies - Double Glazing Suppliers
VEKA Group is a world-leader in recycling old PVC windows and was the
first systems company in the world to have its own purpose-built ‘Closed-Loop’
recycling plant – that produces recycled material so pure it can be put
straight back to make new double glazing window profile, not lower grade
products such as drainage pipes as with some less sophisticated processes.
This means the same material could theoretically be used many times over,
giving literally centuries of service with no further depletion of the
Earth’s resources and no more fossil fuel spent creating new PVC-U polymer.
This ‘Umwelttechnik’ plant, at Behringen in Germany has the capacity to
process 50,000 tonnes of ‘post-consumer’ PVC windows a year, including
glass, metal and gasket material as well as PVC-U. Supporting this in the
UK is the VEKA Recycling plant in Kent which puts every part of an old
window through primary processing before being sent to Germany for full
recycling.
The company actively promotes recycling among all of its customers and
encourages them to return both old double glazed window frames – whether
they were originally made from VEKA or any other system – and also off-cuts
and manufacturing waste from fabricators. Currently VEKA Recycling processes
annually over 12,000 tonnes of material that would otherwise be clogging
up landfill sites, with all the damage to the environment, not to mention
the financial penalty of local landfill taxes.
Also on the environmental front, VEKA was among the first system suppliers
in the UK to switch to using only calcium organic stabilisers in all of
its products instead of more contentious stabilisers such as lead.
Every VEKA product is not only rigorously tested in the company’s own
labs…samples are also put through punishing extremes of temperature for
long periods high in the Swiss Alps and in the searing heat of the Nevada
Desert. This means every customer anywhere in the world, as well as Britain
and Ireland, can be sure that all the PVC window systems are tough enough
to take on any weather they are likely to face.
Ongoing investment in plant, people and technology – including a £9million
state-of-the-art warehousing and distribution facility – have endorsed
VEKA plc’s long-term commitment to the UK double glazing window market,
its customers, partners, suppliers and end-users. Based at Burnley in Lancashire,
VEKA plc has been a contributor to the economy of the area since 1986 when
it first set up with just 30 staff operating from a modest 30,000 square
foot factory.
Working alongside VEKA is Network VEKA, [NV link] a dedicated group of
independent VEKA fabricators and installers committed to raising the standards
of quality and integrity in an industry too often better known for the
excesses of its worst operators. It was founded in 1996 by a few fabricators
and installers who realised that they would earn the trust of homeowners
if they could uphold the strict high standards of quality, training and
guarantees that the organisation is now well-known for. Nearly 140 companies
of all sizes now work the Network VEKA way, carrying out annually around
16,000 installations throughout Britain and Ireland to a collective value
of over £65million – and enjoying an Average Installation value that remains
significantly higher than the industry average.
VEKA has been a major force in the PVC window industry for almost as long
as the material has been used in as a frame material. From its origins
in Germany, where the technology was first developed, the VEKA Group now
spans the world with 17 factories across Europe, Asia, America and Russia,
including Umwelttechnik and the VEKA Recycling plant in Kent.
VEKA needs no introduction to anyone in the world of the double glazing
window and UPVC door systems, patio sliding doors, PVC patio doors and
double doors. From almost the first window profiles to the most sophisticated
recent developments such as the highly advanced new sliding patio doors
and UPVC door, VEKA has remained one of the most trusted names in the industry
for nearly 40 years with a growing product range .
VEKA is one of the country’s most popular system suppliers with a growing
number of trade fabricators, each putting VEKA quality at the heart of
its windows, conservatories, PVC patio doors and other products for installers
and commercial customers everywhere. VEKA products are well known in many
home improvement areas including the window, UPVC door sectors as well
as sliding patio doors. PVC-U may be best-known for windows but the same
technology can be equally applied to other products such as PVC patio doors
and more recently the French-style double doors.
Double doors, with their conventional opening rather than the more familiar
patio sliding doors have found a sizeable niche in recent times, especially
in more traditional or classical settings. However, patio sliding doors
remain a firm favourite.
