VEKA Recycling launches Northern hub

VEKA Recycling has established a Northern collection hub based at VEKA plc's Burnley-based facility.
This initiative is designed to reduce transport emissions and minimise the VEKA Group's carbon footprint, it means that VEKA plc can operate a 'back-fill' system when making deliveries throughout the region.

Managing Director of VEKA Recycling Tony Cattini explains: “It makes sense for us to utilise VEKA plc vehicles which are already on the road. Once they have delivered high-spec profile to fabricators, they can collect all offcuts and any post consumer frames - taking them back to VEKA's Burnley-based facilities on the return journey. This effectively halves the number of trips needed and means VEKA Recycling only needs to make one single collection from this centralised hub.

“Recyclable material is then taken to our Kent-based facility to be processed into a form that can be transported more fuel-efficiently to VEKA Umwelttechnik – avoiding the irony of wasting natural resources in order to save them.

“The number of British fabricators and installers using our services is rising as they strive to improve their eco-friendly credentials and avoid the substantial cost of landfill.

“However, we still feel that there aren't enough companies who know how easily they could benefit from our closed-loop recycling programme. We may have the VEKA name above the door, but we take material from all fabricators and profile users.

“We encourage companies of all types to contact us to discuss the opportunities available. The VEKA Recycling website has also undergone a stylish redesign, making it even easier to get in touch.”
