VEKA has reinforced its position as leader in PVC-U recycling with the unveiling of Infinity, a completely integrated frame system using up to 80% high-grade recycled material.
The launch comes soon after VEKA became the first UK system supplier to sign a full-scale housing contract to specify recycled profile.

Infinity is an entirely co-extruded system comprising ten window and door profiles, all fully compatible with VEKA’s existing Matrix 70 system and will be supplied with Infinity branded protective tape.

Profiles each contain up to 80% recycled material but their co-extrusion means all external surfaces are virgin polymer, and are therefore colour-stable and free from lead-based additives.

VEKA Sales & Marketing Director Colin Torley says recent demand has shown that the industry is more than ready for a recycled product:
“It took a leap of faith by our client, the Places For People housing group, to be the first to take the recycled route,” he added.

“But now many others are ready to follow and we have the system to meet all their needs.”
He added: “It has taken considerable investment, in both research and technology, to reach this point but we began with the commitment to offer this profile at the same price as its virgin polymer equivalent and I am proud to say we have achieved that.”

Initial take-up is expected to continue in the social sector but many in domestic retrofit are watching its progress closely, especially those working in affluent intellectual neighbourhoods.

The material for the Infinity profile comes from the VEKA Group’s unique purpose-built Umwelttechnik plant at Behringen, Germany, though VEKA remains committed to replicating the facility in the UK as soon as demand permits. Post-consumer frames – from any original manufacturer’s system – are already pre-processed at VEKA Recycling’s facility in Kent to cut fuel use in transportation.

Infinity is only the latest in a long tradition of environmental initiatives by VEKA. Most recently, it designed the UK’s first ever ‘A’ Rated window, was the first systems company to establish a PVC-U recycling plant and the company was among the first to eliminate lead stabilisers from its products.
