Long-standing VEKA customer Anders Glass has completed an impressive school installation, replacing all 80 windows at Chorlton Park Primary School.
Built in 1920, Chorlton Park is Manchester's largest primary school and has the windows to match! Each window unit is around 2.6m x 2.1m and had to be replaced during school holidays to minimise disruption to pupils.
Anders won the contract thanks to the team's experience in the commercial and education sectors, and the fact that they could complete the project within the short timeframe allowed by the holidays. The company carried out full site surveys and specification, design, fabrication, installation and finishing.
Andrew Long, Business Development Manager at Anders explains: “Originally, the client was worried that PVC-U windows might look too bulky and not complement the school in the way the original timber windows had when they were in good repair. However once the new windows went in, fabricated from high-spec VEKA profile, they could see that these energy-efficient alternatives suited the building perfectly and were very much 'in keeping' with the original style.
“Everyone at the school is delighted with the transformation: the original timber windows were very old and couldn't be opened. We've been told that since we carried out the installation, teachers have noticed a definite improvement in the behaviour of the pupils thanks to the improved ventilation!”
