Ventilation

It is not recommended that a slot ventilator passes through any sash or frame member which is reinforced for strength purposes. However, it is acceptable for a slot ventilator to pass through locally reinforced members provided that a ventilator sleeve is used

The above methods of providing permanent ventilation to habitable rooms have been compiled to allow the specifier to comply with the requirements of the current Building Regulations
    
There are a number of proprietary ventilators currently on the market all offering ventilation areas up to 4000mm2.
