Ever committed to customer satisfaction, VEKA has made significant investment in warehousing and transport through the decades. In order to operate with optimum efficiency, meeting the greatest demands within the shortest possible time, VEKA has invested over £9million in storage and distribution facilities in recent years.
VEKA's high bay fully automated warehousing system, designed for maximum pallet capacity, is fed with stock from the production area via an elevated monorail system using two independently controlled cranes. The warehouse holds over 6500 separate profile stillages - an increase of 40% on previous stock capacity, illustrating our commitment to swift and accurate deliveries to all our UK customers.
As the barcode-based system moves, it also carries out a stock-take to ensure that supply consistently meets demand and reserves never get too low. The loading bay is entirely covered to ensure that product is kept pristinely clean and dry during loading, ready for fabrication.
As an industry leader we offer our customers an extensive range of products which is second to none in the entire market. More than 1,600 different profile cross sections and geometries are always available and ready for collection from a storage area of more than 36,000m². Thanks to such an extensive inventory, the entire VEKA line is always accessible. More than 200,000m of profile is supplied daily from the VEKA warehouse in Burnley to customers throughout the UK.
With its modern logistics system, VEKA's response is fast and flexible - delivering required products to the respective destinations throughout Europe within five days. Profile is loaded in a clean, dry environment and is supplied branded and protected on pallets to prevent any damage during transit.
Rather than using subcontractors, all drivers are employed in-house by VEKA so that our customers can rest assured that drivers know and understand the product when transporting, loading and unloading.
VEKA transportation complies with all relevant legislation and in an effort to minimise negative environmental impact we keep a modern fleet of vehicles - all less than five years old. VEKA delivery routes are carefully planned to minimise driving, lessen fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. Some of the fleet use LPG rather than diesel, again minimising our impact on the environment.
Our vehicle interiors are designed for optimum use of space, with bespoke stillages for composite doors fitted alongside profile stillages. Our fleet carry more than the industry average (four stillages rather than three) - evidence once again that we are continually trying to reduce the number, and duration, of trips needed.
