VEKA’s people are hugely important. Without them we would have no new customers, our products wouldn’t get made and our customers would not get any deliveries. Whatever department an employee works in, they play a massive part in the VEKA process.
We value all our employees, and in turn our employees value us. VEKA plc opened in the UK in 1986 and we still have employees with us today who started on day one with many other employees having reached milestone service dates with us. Part of our people strategy is our ongoing investment in our employees. So much so that we have reached our own milestone, being recognised continually as an Investor in People since 1994.
During our most recent re assessment in July 2009, the assessment noted that VEKA had:

A firm commitment to staff development is complements by the very professional in house NVQ training programmes available to staff. This commitment to staff development has recently been highlighted with VEKA’s pledge to make 2010 its Year of Learning after signing up to the Government’s Skills Pledge for employers. All employees will be encouraged to take up new and existing training opportunities and the company aims to offer more development qualifications during the year.

The Company sponsors sporting matches at local clubs:
VEKA Ribblesdale Cricket League and Burnley Football Club
The local football club saw fabulous success in May 2009, being promoted to the Premiership and VEKA was behind them all the way, closing the entire site and factory production for the day, allowing those who wanted to, to make the journey down to Wembley.
We also work closely with local schools and colleges, sponsoring awards and training events.
Our employees get in on the act too, taking part in coaching and mentoring events designed to improve pupil’s development and aptitude skills.
Students from local schools come to VEKA on work experience days and see how the world of work operates first hand.
Fostering these links between business and community is vital in the ongoing success of the Company and the community. The children of today are the employees of the future.
