A comprehensive interior and exterior refurbishment contract was carried out on the Cheshire premises of a Blue Chip electronics company. This included the selection of high performance windows from the range of profiles offered by VEKA plc.

With the Chester office of Powell Williams LLP being the client’s chosen architectural consultant, the work at Siemens’ Congleton site has been led by main contractor, Brown and Bancroft. Meanwhile, D and M Windows and Doors was the member of VEKA’s wide fabricator network responsible for supplying and installing some 300 VEKA M70 Casement windows, as well as doors and flashings to complete the façade facelift.

With the four storey structure standing in an exposed location, wind loadings were also an important factor. Following the provision of wind calculations and evidence of the window system’s test performance, the frames were coupled together in banks of five to provide enhanced resistance to the predicted wind speeds.

D and M Windows and Doors is now putting forward a tender to carry out the next phase of work at the site.
