
Material Test Technician
Job description
To provide an in-depth inspection and test service to ensure that VEKA products conform to the specified requirements of both the Company and the relevant regulatory bodies. To liaise with all personnel to promote good working practices with respect to product performance and general quality issues.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that manufactured product is inspected and tested as per agreed inspection criteria based upon relevant BSI standards, regulatory and company requirements.
- To understand and comply with all relevant BSI and other regulatory requirements and to promote the understanding of these requirements amongst other personnel.
- Undertake proactive instruction and awareness with manufacturing personnel to ensure that product quality is controlled to specified requirements. Providing necessary measuring equipment and function samples where required.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with all personnel ensuring that issues affecting the quality of products is communicated in a timely and competent manner.
- Provide assistance during assessment visits by regulatory bodies or other parties, in the provision of suitable samples required for external inspection & testing are supplied promptly to relevant parties.
- Assist in the maintenance and implementation of quality management systems and actively participate in appropriate improvement activities.
- To ensure that all documentation and records associated with inspection and testing are effective, up to date, legible and stored in a satisfactory manner to minimise damage, deterioration or loss.
- To manage the calibration of all inspection and test equipment used to maintain product quality conformance. This includes in-house calibration of equipment and the control and liaison with external calibration providers for all other equipment.
- To carry out weekly bacteria tests and analysis on the process water, informing relevant members of staff of the results.
- To maintain and keep up to date all written records on the operation and maintenance of control measures involved in the water treatment process.
- To assist in the approval of new/updated products and the investigation and effective reporting of general quality non-conformances.
- To investigate customer concerns and supply accurate and timely information to relevant personnel.
- Where necessary, take part in visits to customers and assist in identifying & resolving quality issues.
- To develop internal auditing skills and assist with assessments of the Company’s quality and environmental management systems.
- To maintain and develop an understanding of the activities of the Company especially in respect to quality related issues to ensure effective response can be made to queries, e.g. during customer visits.
- Communicate effectively to all levels within the business.
- To promote and implement relevant Company policies and procedures.
- To represent the Company in a professional manner.
- To maintain a flexible & enthusiastic approach to Company matters, upholding VEKA Values always.
- To liaise with colleagues and superiors on day to day duties and issues.
- To maintain all Health, Safety, C.O.S.H.H. and environmental standards within the workplace and adhere to all Company working practices.
